Hello and blessings.
I once heard a lecture by the Rabbi about there being two schools in Torah study—innovation and conservatism (Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Yehoshua, and Rabbi Akiva was a combination of the two)—and if I remember correctly, the Rabbi said that these ideas are brought in a book by Professor Menachem Fisch.
I hope I’m remembering correctly; in any case, I’d be glad if the Rabbi could direct me to his book (if indeed that’s the one, and if not then to another source).

It’s “To Know Wisdom.” But I took from them only the idea about the revolution in Yavneh, and I expanded it in those directions. See my article here:
