Question

If the Rabbi could explain to me the flow of the Talmudic passage at the beginning of the chapter “How Does One Recite Blessings,” regarding the source of the blessings over deriving benefit before and after eating—whether in the end the reasoning itself creates a Torah-level obligation, etc.
I have already seen commentators who dealt with some of the above, but in the end I still did not come away with a coherent and logical explanation of the passage (especially the a fortiori arguments brought in the Talmud). I would be happy to hear the Rabbi’s view.
