Q&A: Hybrid Species in Genetic Engineering
Hybrid Species in Genetic Engineering
Question
Hello Rabbi,
Is there a prohibition of hybrid species in genetic engineering? For example, wheat into which they insert a protein from a tomato that would help it cope with pests? More than that, what is the ruling regarding genes that encode visible traits, in the plant or in the fruit?
Thank you,
Elchanan
