Q&A: Regarding Kavanaugh and Something Else
Regarding Kavanaugh and Something Else
Question
Good evening, Michi,
I would be very glad if you would address my point that since the latest studies have shown that the shaping of young people’s brains is only completed after age 20, the definition of a “minor” should be changed, and accordingly the punishment as well.
Since I assume I spend more time reading newspapers, I have been exposed more דווקא to stories of men who were ashamed to admit to rape [or attempted rape] that they experienced in childhood or adolescence, and kept it hidden in their hearts. It seems to me that the label “the me too gang” is not really appropriate.
Another matter: do you know of the work of Rabbi Yom Tov Gindi: a translation of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh), translated by Saadia Gaon from Judeo-Arabic into literary Arabic?
All the best
Answer
I addressed it. What I wrote is that I agree, but there is no chance that the aforementioned gang will cooperate with that. I call them a gang because they operate through violent means to achieve their goals, and are incapable of breaking out of their primitive herd thinking (or non-thinking). Therefore arguments like the one you raised, which I completely agree with, will not achieve their goal with them.
I did not understand what the connection is between your remark about men and the nickname I gave that unholy gang.
I do not know that rabbi or his work. I do not deal with the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) even in Hebrew, so a translation into Arabic, even literary Arabic, would not mean much to me.
