Question
I’m very interested in marine biology, and I’m considering doing a degree in it.
The options in this field are pretty limited, and in all of them there is a modesty issue (part of the training in the degree involves diving, and in general you spend a lot of time at the beach and in the water).
Should I change direction and choose different studies? After all, seemingly there are Torah-level prohibitions here, and a person can find something else to do, especially since this is a field with more interest and less income…

It may be proper to refrain. I’m not sure there is a halakhic prohibition here, for several reasons. First, a professional is preoccupied with his work. Second, this is a case of “it is not possible and one does not intend.” In the end, the decision depends on how important this is to you and how much it will affect you spiritually. Only you can answer that.
