Analytical Study for the Weekly Torah Portion

Question

Hello Rabbi,
Do you have a recommendation for a book of Talmudic analysis on the weekly Torah portions and/or the festivals (for a vital purpose that I’m sure you’d be happy to help with — cutting down on the little sermonettes at the Sabbath table and replacing them with the truth of Torah)? I really only know Minchat Chinukh.

Answer

There is Kli Chemda, which is excellent.
There are books by Rabbi Asher Weiss on the portions. Excellent.
And there are many more.

Thanks

There’s also a series by the rabbi from the Badatz who wrote an excellent series of books on Choshen Mishpat (very comprehensive practical summaries of Jewish law). I forgot the name. He also wrote responsa and a book on the Torah under the same name. Also very good. I don’t have time to look it up right now.

I tried to look for it and didn’t find it. It’s not all that critical, but if you get a chance I’d be glad if you could try to remember (or at least give some more details so I can search), thanks.

Pitchei Choshen

Indeed, I meant Pitchei Choshen, but after checking I saw that he didn’t write the books I had in mind. That was another person from the Badatz. I’ve now found it: Rabbi Avraham David Horowitz, “Kinyan Torah BaShmaita” arranged by the weekly portions. His responsa is “Kinyan Torah BeHalakha.”

Thank you very much
