“Master of the Universe” after Counting the Omer

Question

Does the Rabbi know who composed the prayer “Master of the Universe” that some have the custom to say after Counting the Omer? I’m asking mainly because of the puzzling wording, “You commanded us… to count the Counting of the Omer in order to purify us from our husks.”

Answer

I don’t know.

Uri, see Pitchei Hotam in the Shulchan Arukh from the writings of the Ari [siman 489, se’if katan 5], where he explained that Passover and the forty-nine days of the Omer are the root of all the days of the year, and the way a person conducts himself during them carries him through all the days of the year, as the Rashash wrote in his book Nahar Shalom, page 32, column 3. Therefore one must repair what he damaged in the upper sefirot in order to remain on the level of repentance throughout the year. Also see Shemen Sasson, discourse 5 from the Omer discourses, section 22, end quote. See the customs of the Rashash (Darkei Shalom, section 56), and Shulchan Arukh HaRav there, the siddur of Rabbi Shabbetai Sofer, and the siddur of Rabbi Jacob Emden [the original one—Shaarei Shamayim], and other important prayer books [see the Redelheim siddur [Avodat Yisrael], which copied the prayer and skipped the passage, ‘And through the counting that I counted today, what I damaged in the sefirah, etc., should be repaired’] and it begins with the words “Master of the Universe,” etc.
