Inducing Labor
Question
Does the Rabbi think there is a problem with inducing labor in a case where the doctors say there is no need, but the woman giving birth wants it for reasons of convenience?
Answer
What is the problem?
Discussion on Answer
I didn’t understand. What’s the problem with doing that? Is there danger? What exactly is the question?
There is a view that it is forbidden to induce because it introduces danger at a time when it is not yet naturally required. I think Igrot Moshe and Rabbi Ovadia ruled that way.
Of course, that is only when there is no medical need to induce.
