Q&A: Concepts Before the Creation of the World
Concepts Before the Creation of the World
Question
The Rabbi writes that the First Being, the Holy One, had several possibilities before the creation of the world: to create a perfect world, or to create a world in which people are not perfect, and this shows us that there is a reason for the existence of the commandments.
My question is: how is it possible to speak about possibilities for how to create a world before the creation of the world? After all, none of the concepts existed…
Answer
I didn’t understand the question. Before the creation of the world, the concepts of our world also did not exist. So how was it created? What connection is there between the existence of concepts and alternatives for the creation of the world?
Hindik, how do you interpret “He looked into the Torah and created the world”?
