Q&A: Shaving Before a Job Interview During the Three Weeks
Shaving Before a Job Interview During the Three Weeks
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I have a job interview this week. The potential workplace is clearly secular (that’s an understatement). Is it permissible for me to shave before the interview? I want to avoid a situation where I’m labeled, based on external appearance alone, as a religious fanatic who could potentially disrupt the social fabric.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you in advance.
Answer
If in your estimation this will cause harm, it seems to me that there is room to be lenient. After all, this is only a custom. And in Igrot Moshe, Orach Chayim 4:102, he permitted shaving where there is financial loss.
Discussion on Answer
If you can’t postpone it and in your opinion it’s necessary, then it’s possible.
Is it permissible for me to get a haircut and buy clothes during the Three Weeks because I have a shidduch date?
