Q&A: Reporting a Mass Gathering During Corona
Reporting a Mass Gathering During Corona
Question
Hello,
Recently I was invited to a wedding with far more guests than the law allows during the coronavirus period. This is not a small deviation, but several times over what is permitted.
Am I required to report it to the authorities? On the one hand, this will presumably cause anguish to the bride and groom; on the other hand, they seem to be outright offenders who are endangering people like this.
What should I do?
Answer
Seemingly yes. It would be proper to warn them in advance and say that you intend to notify the authorities (and/or that in any case you do not intend to attend and that it is improper to do this). Even so, one naturally hesitates about it, and I also assume it will be unpleasant for you to tell them. Perhaps you can notify the police well in advance that such an event is being planned, so that the couple will have time to make arrangements.
Discussion on Answer
It seems to me a simple solution: shout loudly against the organizers, and then the event will become a permitted demonstration 🙂
Best regards, A Roaring Screamer
And perhaps even if you do not shout, it should be permitted by the logic of "migo" or "ho'il"?
Of course, I am talking about a significant excess, not small deviations. And one must be sure that it is not organized in capsules/groups (although such a setup usually does not hold up). That is, we are not talking about breaking the law in the merely formal sense, but about a real danger.
