Q&A: Psik Reisha
Psik Reisha
Question
I had a question.
And I saw that you wrote a column about it, but it just confused me… Any chance you could address it here briefly? Or point me to the paragraph where you answered it (if you did)?
The question is that there is a case of what used to be called psik reisha that was discussed in Jewish law, for example closing a box on the Sabbath when there may be flies inside it.
And seemingly there is no difference between this and any other “unintended act,” since even in dragging a bench, if we bring an expert he would know how to say (by calculating the angle of the dragging and the type of ground) whether a furrow will be made here.
The only difference is that with the bench you need an expert, and in the case of the flies even an ordinary person can answer easily.
That is, both of them are epistemic doubts.
Answer
You saw the column, so what do you want me to write here?
