Judaism
Question
Why, in the Rabbi’s definition of Judaism, does he not also include the thought underlying Jewish law (such as Tanya or Nefesh HaChayim)? After all, that too is just as unique to Judaism as Jewish law is.
Answer
I do include it.
Discussion on Answer
Of course they have religious law, but it is a different law. Is Israeli law not unique to citizens of Israel just because other countries also have laws?
Moreover, their obligation to their religious law applies only to Muslims, and ours only to Jews—just like the legal systems of different countries. That is unlike any other value or conception, which is supposed to be evaluated on its own merits regardless of the person involved and their affiliation.
On the same topic: don’t Muslims also have religious law? Why is this unique to Judaism?
