Q&A: Majority of Wisdom
Majority of Wisdom
Question
I saw that there is a question whether following the majority of wisdom counts as a majority not physically before us, since the knowledge comes from the world. Doesn't this depend on the well-known dispute between Bashash and Kovesh in defining a majority physically before us regarding blood from the source?
Answer
I didn’t understand the reasoning.
But beyond the reasoning, it is explicit in Hullin that a majority in a religious court is considered physically before us. So according to the view that we follow the majority of wisdom in a religious court, that is a majority physically before us.
I’m not familiar with that dispute. As for Kovetz Shiurim, I do know it, if you mean his remarks in Bava Batra 24.
