Q&A: Beating My Breast Over the Sin of Voting for Feiglin
Beating My Breast Over the Sin of Voting for Feiglin
Question
As someone who voted for him, I wonder: where was my critical sense impaired? And where did your critical sense disappear, as someone who recommended him before the election? After all, his views on vaccines testify as clearly as a thousand witnesses to a desire to think the opposite way, not to think critically; to a desire to attract attention, not to investigate the truth. The proof is his certainty, his claim that those obscure doctors whom he cites against giving vaccines are the ones who reflect the truth (while often distorting the data), and not the hundreds of authorized health bodies in hundreds of countries around the world. The main question is: where did doubt disappear to, for a seeker of truth who has no expertise in medicine at all?
I assume your answer will focus on the fact that every matter must be judged on its own merits, and that his election platform in itself was correct and justified. But the truth is that in many respects we relied on him; we started from the assumption that his educational, transportation, and housing plans (and more and more and more…) were masterful work, without checking them in depth and breadth. We felt that here was a person with a good head on his shoulders, someone whose orderly worldview could be trusted. Today I beat my breast over this sin and am grateful that he was not elected to the Knesset, because putting his views into practice now seems to me a horrifying thing.
Answer
It seems to me that this text belongs in the confessions department, not in the responsa department.
After an intensive search, I nevertheless managed to find here some tiny shred of a question that perhaps you intended, except that you yourself already answered it.
All I can suggest is that you send your comments to Feiglin himself, and/or publish them publicly on a more relevant platform. Good luck.
Good luck.
Discussion on Answer
In fact, I was already on the verge of deleting this foolish thread. The only reason it will stay here is that otherwise it might be interpreted as deleting statements that are uncomfortable for me, so it will remain here to its shame.
Honestly, with such arrogance, such strange text selection, and such poor reading comprehension, I suddenly understand why you identified with Feiglin. For the righteous, their work is done by others; your work got done by you without you even wanting it, apparently you are the leading sage of the generation. I got an answer to my question, thank you. Many thanks
P.S. Feel free to delete the thread, frame it in your living room, or do with it whatever your heart desires..
At the beginning I explicitly asked: how did a person like you, who prides himself on rational criticism, miss his shallowness, his distortion, his love of detached speculations and hollow theories, and even write an entire column in his favor and in favor of voting for him?
After that I added a detailed explanation of what lies behind the question, but this is not the first time that you have demanded lots of question marks in order to understand the question. (Maybe we should add that to the question too: how does a person like you miss such obvious questions… here are question marks – ??)
