Q&A: Pashkevils
Pashkevils
Question
Rabbi Michael, hello,
Following the recent pashkevils against Rabbi Melamed’s halakhic rulings, I felt a great deal of sorrow and distress.
And I’ve been thinking about whether there is a fundamental problem with conduct like this. On the face of it, the protesters think that Rabbi Melamed’s words are a dangerous mistake and see a need to warn the public about these things. I remember that the Rabbi told about a newly religious person at the beginning of his path who was very disturbed by the disputes between rabbis, and the Rabbi said that where people care and things matter to them, they argue about such matters.
I’m asking about a fundamental issue, because in practice it seems to me that the pashkevils cause only harm, even according to the protesters’ own approach.
Thank you
Answer
From a fundamental standpoint, if that is what they think, then they are acting properly. Only if that is what they think; but if they think their opposition will help, then they are fools.

I assume so
Thank you very much.
Presumably that is what they think, no?
