Itamar Ben-Gvir
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I seem to remember that in the past you spoke very sharply against Ben-Gvir, but from what I’ve seen of him he seems worthy and principled to me, and not racist at all in his statements. He also says about himself that his attitude toward Arabs has changed. I wanted to ask why, in your opinion, he is disqualified?
Best regards,
Answer
I don’t follow his statements, and perhaps he has changed his mind (I hope so). I devote the principled discussion of the racism of that group to the following column.

Not only is he not racist. He completely consistently distinguishes again and again between Arabs and terrorists. He calls LGBT people “my brothers,” and hugs them. Of course I don’t know what you’re planning to write about “the racism of that group,” but in my view the old same old racism of our brothers on the far left, such as the Balfour demonstrators, is much more interesting and important.
