In light of the trolling that went on here,
is there any prohibition against joining sects that do not necessarily contain an element of idolatry?

If there is no idolatry there, then apparently there is no prohibition. But of course it is not proper to be foolish, and according to Maimonides this is probably the root of all the prohibitions of “You shall be wholehearted,” sorcery, divination, necromancy, and the rest of the paraphernalia of idolatry. According to his approach, maybe there is a prohibition here, but that is not likely. It does not make sense to think that every foolish step a person takes is a Torah prohibition.

Yes, I was almost tempted to join, but I wanted to know what “the Torah view” is on the matter.
And seriously, and of course this is theoretical and silly, but say they did exist—is it permissible for a sect/group of people to take over the world? That is, to impose a single world order on everyone (which presumably would not necessarily contradict the commandments of the Torah), but would still force certain values on people (socialism, capitalism, slavery-ism, and any other ***-ism you can think of)
