Humanities
Question
With God’s help,
Hello Rabbi!
In the Rabbi’s opinion, is there value in the existence of the humanities in academia? (I do not mean fields that pretend to be “science,” like gender studies and the rest of what the Rabbi calls “nonsense studies,” but rather the classic fields like philosophy—not “French” philosophy, of course—literature, and history.)
Thank you very much.
Answer
There is some value in a small portion of the work done there, but in my opinion the benefit is not worth the damage they cause and their cost. These fields are something for amateurs, not for people who should be investing society’s time and money in them, etc.
