Q&A: They Got Used to Not Thinking
They Got Used to Not Thinking
Question
Saturday night, for the portion “Sodom and Gomorrah.”
A rabbi who is familiar with the Haredi community, and with the religious and traditional public, claimed to me
that, poor things, they voted for Bibi and his gang because they are a group that got used to not thinking and not delving deeply.
By contrast, other groups within the Jewish people, who are in fact used to thinking and reflecting, did not fall into that trap.
And this is the root of the downfall of the Jewish people.
Do his words seem plausible?
Answer
Most of the world does not really think and falls into various errors. So that is not a sufficient explanation. The answer to the question of why people who do not think reach the conclusions they do should be found with a psychologist. It is not my field.
