Q&A: Implications of Belief in a Creator of the World
Implications of Belief in a Creator of the World
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I’ve been in a process of self-examination for quite a long time, trying to clarify what I believe and what I don’t. I’ve had a chance to listen to some of your lectures and read a few of your books. At the moment I’m at a point where I can say that I believe in a Creator of the world—that is, I’m convinced that the claim that the world was created as the result of some kind of will sounds much more reasonable to me than the claim that it came about by chance. I know you have a chapter called “From Deism to Theism,” and I’m asking whether you could briefly explain the next step—how one moves forward from a general conviction that the world was created by “God.”
Thank you, and have a peaceful Sabbath.
