I heard that the Mishnah Berurah permits getting a haircut in the month of Iyar if
it falls on a Friday, like this year. What is your view on this?
2) When I study Daf Yomi, am I fulfilling only a commandment, and that’s it?
Is it not considered Torah study but only learning, and therefore it has no value as you say?

1. The whole thing is a custom, so I do not see much point in the discussion, nor much basis for one.
2. It is study, even if it is not of the highest quality.
