Q&A: A Question from a Baal Teshuva
A Question from a Baal Teshuva
Question
Dr. Abraham, in recent months I’ve begun getting closer to Jewish tradition and Jewish law, and even though I have some basic familiarity with a few pages of Talmud and parts of the Kitzur Shulchan Arukh, I feel a bit lost in the process. I’d like to ask whether you have a recommendation for an institution for baalei teshuva. All the institutions I found were affiliated with Haredi communities.
Answer
I’m not familiar enough to say. In Jerusalem there is Machon Meir. I’m sure they can also tell you about additional places there. In Tel Aviv there are also a few places. It also depends on whether you’re looking for a full-scale yeshiva, every day for the whole day, or just study for a few hours. I’d suggest contacting Machon Meir.
