Q&A: Research on Human Quality
Research on Human Quality
Question
Good evening!
1. It occurred to me to do a statistical study: which people are more cruel, Jews or Muslims? One could make a questionnaire such as: Are you glad that the enemy’s daughters are raped, or are you sad when their children die?
2. Another study I thought of: which nation in the world has the greatest social solidarity and concern for others? For example, one could ask: Would you stand up for an elderly person on the bus, or if you saw someone collapse in the street, would you help him?
Do studies like these show anything? Is there any reason not to investigate this?
For some reason I have a feeling that no university would approve such a study. If so, why not?
Answer
They show different characteristics of different peoples (on average). There is no reason such a study should not be approved. I am sure studies like these, or similar ones, have already been done.
