Belief in Muhammad
Question
I had a conversation (a very pleasant one) with some Muslim, and he convinced me that Muhammad was a prophet, or at least a holy and very important person.
So the question is: is it a contradiction to Judaism if I believe that?
Answer
Not necessarily. There are those who claim that the Lubavitcher Rebbe was the Messiah, a prophet, and the like, and that too is not necessarily a contradiction to Judaism.
I seem to recall that Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, in Perplexed of the Generation, discusses the possibility that Jesus and Muhammad were prophets and performed miracles (it may be that this does not appear in the censored editions).
