The Fine-Tuning of the Universe — Is It Possible Without a Guiding Hand?
Question
Hello,
I wanted to ask you about the fine-tuning of the universe.
I happened to speak with someone who claimed the following:
Our universe is so huge, and even at the time Earth was formed (4.5 billion years ago) it was already so enormous that we cannot even grasp its size at all (and of course it is constantly expanding at an increasing rate).
If so, then ostensibly, when space is so vast, the possibilities are also beyond comprehension, and the probability that a star like ours would form, with all its subtleties, increases many times over, and statistically it may perhaps reach high percentages.
Apparently something in this calculation is wrong, because I have not heard anyone address this option, and people only talk about parallel universes. But I would be happy to understand what is wrong with it…
Thank you in advance.
Answer
I, in my modest way, have addressed this more than once. The mistake is that the laws of nature throughout the universe are the same laws. And laws that allow life are very rare and improbable. Therefore one needs parallel universes; many planets within the same universe are not enough. But I have also answered this regarding parallel universes.

You need to search here on the site. One place is Notebook 3, from chapter 10 onward.
Could you send a link to a place where you answered this?
