Question

There’s some project called the Blue Brain project, where basically they want to model the brain inside a computer. I don’t know where the project currently stands, but I assume that at some point it will happen. According to your dualist view, a computer certainly wouldn’t have consciousness, but do you think that even according to the materialist view it could still turn out that this software would not have consciousness? It just sounds strange to me that a program, no matter how sophisticated, would have awareness.
