I just read your manifesto again. I didn’t understand why the question of identity interests you so much (or why it is interesting at all).
Should the fact that my identity is “modern religious,” or “Haredi,” or “Religious Zionist” affect my views or my way of life?
Answer
It doesn’t interest me at all. The problem is that identity interests people and affects them. I described there that both identities have a very strong influence on people (their whole lives are dictated by them: who they vote for, where they send their children to study, what literature and newspapers they read, whom they marry, which rabbis they consult), and therefore I thought that if one is already operating within an identity, one should do so within the right identity.
