Lack of Faith
Question
For quite a long time now I haven’t believed in what is called God (though I’m still a devoted follower 🙂 ) after a very long period of inquiry and self-honesty.
I’m happy with where I am. Do I have any reason to want to get back into the thicket of self-examination?
Answer
There is always a reason to investigate, to see whether perhaps you were mistaken. Only you can answer that question.
The question is puzzling at its core. Belief in God is not meant to make you feel good, but to fulfill your purpose in the world. Why does the fact that you feel good in your current state constitute a reason not to examine whether you may be missing something important?
If you’re convinced that you’re not missing anything and are willing to take the risk of being wrong—fine. If not, then it would be worthwhile to keep examining the matter. But what does that have to do with feeling good?
