Hello Rabbi,
How much does God watch over the world? Assuming there is some exalted “plan” for human history, does that necessarily mean that everything that happens to people—even events that feel very significant to individuals, like finding a spouse, health, etc.—is under that supervision for the sake of humanity’s ultimate goal?
Of course, human beings are the ones who create history, so they have to be involved in the story… The question was whether absolutely everything that happens to us is necessarily supervised. For example, one could agree that the Holocaust still would have happened even in a situation of six million minus one victims—that is, it doesn’t seem that what happened to certain specific people in their private lives really changed anything in reality…
More like they were victims for the sake of the idea / historical goal.
