Noah and the Flood

Question

Have a good week and a happy holiday, Honorable Rabbi,
As is well known, we are beginning to read the Torah anew. I’m someone who doesn’t really understand the Hebrew Bible very well (I studied a few chapters and also a bit of biblical philosophy, but not beyond that) — the story of Noah’s flood seems a bit vague to me. On one hand, it says that the rain lasted 40 days, and it began on 17.2 (a Hebrew date, but I’m writing it this way for convenience) — verses 10–11 in chapter 7.
After that, it says again in verse 17 that the flood lasted 40 days. And then in verse 24 that the waters lasted 150 days.
Then in chapter 8 a few more details about the flood are described.
Have you written, or could you write briefly, what the process of the flood was? I’m not able to understand it from the verses in the Hebrew Bible.
Thank you!

Answer

I do not deal with the Hebrew Bible.

Why?
Does the Rabbi have another interpretation and logic in which to approach it?
