Q&A: About Your Hatred for the Coalition
About Your Hatred for the Coalition
Question
I’m genuinely asking (I’m not very up to date politically) — what’s so bad about the coalition? (Aside from promoting the draft law.)
Answer
You’re asking what’s bad about destroying the country economically and socially? About supporting Haredi separatism, which is ruining the Haredim and all of us? About incitement and total dysfunction in a time of war? About irrelevant and harmful legislation? About patronage laws and corrupt budget transfers to anyone who asks at a time of critical distress? About unprecedented public corruption? Maybe you should catch up a bit.
Discussion on Answer
After the publication of the road-accident data, we unfortunately discovered that the government is failing in this area too. Roughly a 20-year record.
In those statistics, there is the involvement of Israeli Arabs in traffic accidents, several times their share of the population. That multiple keeps growing every year relative to the Jewish population, and it stems from a lack of driving culture and a disregard for human life. If it were up to me, the traffic accidents caused by the Arab population would not be included in the traffic-accident statistics, just as the murders there have no connection to the health of the Arab population or to life expectancy as determined by the level of health.
Leaving aside the fact that you didn’t support your claim with any data, where were the Arabs all those years — in Switzerland?
The percentage of Arabs involved in fatal accidents, relative to the Jewish population, increases from year to year. I wrote that explicitly.
What data do you want? Exact nominal numbers? Look at any reference by any body that deals with road safety, and there you’ll find precise figures, which I’m not supposed to remember. But one datum runs through all of them like a common thread, and it’s easy to remember — what I wrote in the first line.
Which government are you talking about? Ben-Gurion’s first one, Netanyahu’s latest one, or any other government in between? They all fit the simplistic description you gave them (it’s all in the eye of the beholder). What do you call that? Begging the question.
