Q&A: The Situation in the Country
The Situation in the Country
Question
I’m writing out my view (I have no idea whether you agree with every detail), in order to know what you think should be done, assuming for the sake of argument that you would accept the description I’m presenting.
My feeling is that the state is collapsing because of a cynical, malicious, and unrestrained leadership. They refuse to take responsibility for a massacre that happened on their watch, they do not visit the kibbutzim, they refuse any state commission of inquiry (even one appointed by Solberg, because Solberg is of course to blame for the massacre), they pass outrageous and unprecedented budgets for the parasitic Haredim, pamper them with exemption from military service while at the same time waging an endless war that requires tired and worn-out manpower. They subsidize everything that moves in order to subsidize all the praying sectors, shamelessly and extremely, at a time of war whose economic cost is insane.
They are dismantling the institutions of the state, delegitimizing the Chief of Staff and the head of the Shin Bet in order to remove responsibility from themselves. I feel there is a corrupt gang here that is truly endangering the very existence of the state.
Assuming that what I’m writing is correct, and that the state is in real danger, what is the most effective thing to do in order to protest? What is the right way to act? To shut down the economy? To refuse to serve in the IDF?
Answer
That is indeed correct (although on some of the points I do not agree). I’m not a protest consultant. Decide for yourself.
