Discussion on Answer
1. Zelensky’s term has expired. According to the Ukrainian constitution, in a state of war where elections cannot be held, the speaker of parliament is appointed president. The constitution was not changed. From that standpoint, Zelensky is not a legitimate president.
2. Russia started the war. They themselves do not deny this. What they do claim, though, is that this was a preventive war against Ukraine joining NATO.
3. As things stand today, the West is sending him ammunition but is not joining the fighting against Russia. In such a situation, it seems likely that the collapse of Ukraine is inevitable. The massive arming of it only pushes off the day, in order to bleed the Russians.
In my opinion, it would have been better for him to surrender. Though there are also considerations of national honor. But if this is a hopeless war, then it really is better to spare human lives.
4. Depends on the day…
