Hello Rabbi Michael,
I listened to the episode of the podcast Evolution Is Not a Dirty Word in which I was a guest, and a question came to me.
Isn't saying that the four fundamental forces of physics have a creator just begging the question?
Why can't we simply leave the source of the laws as an open question?
Answer
I didn’t understand the question. Where did you see begging the question here? At most you’re arguing that it isn’t necessary, but why is it begging the question? Beyond that, it’s not necessary because maybe one could leave it as an unresolved question. By that logic, no argument ever holds water, because maybe we should leave everything as an unresolved question. That’s nonsense. Why do objects with mass fall toward the earth? Gravity. Says who? Let’s just leave that as an unresolved question.
