Q&A: Civil Marriage
Civil Marriage
Question
If civil marriage is allowed in Israel, could that create a problem of mamzerut among the Jewish people?
Answer
Exactly the opposite. In fact, in our current situation more mamzerut is created precisely because marriages are conducted according to Jewish law, and that makes marriage and divorce more difficult.
Discussion on Answer
Do you really expect explanations from this bunch of corrupt people?
A disgrace, a shame, and an outrage…
It really is shameful that they don’t even have the slightest shame.
I really think most of the public isn’t stupid, but it definitely behaves that way. People probably just don’t have the strength for change. Every time someone comes along—even in politics—promising to change things, and then sticks to the chair, so people have apparently lost faith. In general, if you’re truly ideological, you’re not that kind of politician, and vice versa. But the trick is knowing how to be a good acrobat.
So what’s the rabbinate’s excuse? Same thing with kashrut—and I mean even kashrut according to Jewish law—as well as conversions. Do they really have no convincing explanation for the public, just preserving power and their jobs? Or do they want to bestow unnecessary stringencies on the public 😉
