Q&A: Zoharic and Kabbalistic Literature
Zoharic and Kabbalistic Literature
Question
Hello Rabbi. I remember that once you gave a lesson on YouTube (unfortunately I don’t remember its exact title) in which you argued that in your view, the literature of the Zohar and Kabbalah is a kind of “intuition,” and not necessarily higher revelations or divine inspiration, as people tend to think nowadays. If so, what role do intuitions play, in your opinion, in our cognition? And in general, is there a kabbalistic book / kabbalist whose words you would recommend studying? Thank you.
Answer
I didn’t understand the question. These are intuitions, and if they seem right to you, then accept them. To each his own taste.
Discussion on Answer
1. The principles, yes. The details, less so.
2. Correct. The premises of a philosophical argument are usually based on intuition.
I’ll be more precise:
1. Do you advocate studying Kabbalah—that is, do you think personally that there is something to it?
2. I remember that you wrote about intuitions as being no less real than any logical / philosophical consideration.
