Does God Love Us?
Question
Does God love us, or are feelings like love something He invented so that we could manage in the world, and they do not necessarily exist in relation to Him?
Answer
I have no idea why He created emotions, but it is not likely that they exist in Him in the same sense that they do in us. When people speak about His attributes, they usually mean their effects in the world. What exactly does that say about what happens in Him? I have no idea.
Discussion on Answer
I didn’t understand what is new here. The answer is as I wrote.
What about the opposite situation—the effects on Him of what happens in the world? For example, when something bad happens, doesn’t it “bother” Him? After all, He distinguishes between good and evil. Say, didn’t the Holocaust cause Him “sadness”? Or is that also something we cannot know? Basically, the assumption that He has desires means that He does not want us to do certain things, or does not “like” certain things?
