Question

With a quick skim I didn’t find a similar question already there, but I’m sure it’s been asked before…
 
I just can’t understand why you need God in order for morality to have validity. I understand one thing rationally: suffering is all that matters, and therefore it stands at the basis of every moral act. The second thing is that I developed evolutionarily with empathy, so I simply care about doing the moral thing.
