A Torah commandment against reason?
peace,
I wanted to ask: How do the words of the Rambam relate to a resident alien who, if he fulfills a commandment only from the "decision of the mind," is not considered a "chassid," given that he wrote in eight chapters that intellectual prohibitions such as "thou shalt not murder" must be fulfilled in a way that is "impossible," meaning from the intellect.
I am tempted to say that perhaps this is itself a barrier of the commandment, that God Himself wants us not to be murdered by reason.
What do you think?
