Engaging in the Scriptures vs. your own attitude
I really connect with the intellectual approach. It works well for me with belief in the Creator of the universe (God), and with the fact that it is not a deistic God (a fairly simple and necessary logical leap).
But when it comes to faith in the Jewish religion, I don't understand your approach. Especially as a person who declared that reason is above all else.
I will demonstrate –
It is clear that there are quite a few questions about fundamental contradictions in the Torah. In the prophets and in the scriptures, the situation is even worse. Here I assume we both agree.
My mind screams that, until proven otherwise, the priority is the claim that it is a matter of multiple sources, and not the word of God.
When asked about this, you write, "I have no interest/business in the Bible" (as a paraphrase of "I have no interest in the occult"). You claim that almost everything is given in prophecy and that it is impossible to truly explain it.
So on the one hand, I saw that you referred readers who asked you a question about the Bible to rabbis like Rabbi Bezek and Samet. That is, they are a kind of "reliable source" for finding good answers.
On the other hand, I recently saw someone who summarized your view here on the site (based on the conversation with Shmol Rosner), one of the points you agreed with went like this:
There is no point in having original versions of the Bible because everyone does whatever they want there.
So on the one hand, reason is above all else, on the other hand, if there are contradictions, they have no real solution, and if someone has some kind of experience, then they should not be taken seriously because the things in the Bible are sublime words of prophecy.
It doesn't look and feel like the attitude of someone for whom reason is above all else. It looks more like someone who is closing their mouth, ears, and eyes.
In short, I'm confused, because on the subject of believing in God and jumping to a caring God, you're on the right track, and then everything gets more vague. Can you sort it out?
