How to study?

In the month of Ashq, after my absence, I had a wedding, in honor of the Prophet Muhammad.
With the help of Tzur Olamim (if he intervenes in our world), I recently had the privilege of sampling a tiny bit of your writings (mainly columns, articles, and I got my hands on the Quartet). Your vast Torah knowledge is evident, and so I wanted to ask, or perhaps seek advice – how to study carefully? I meant mainly about Talmudic study, and specifically independent study, since the framework of a yeshiva or Torah lessons is unfortunately unavailable to me at the moment.
