I heard that the rabbi believes that it is possible (and perhaps even obligatory) to donate organs, even if they believe that cardiac death is considered a halakhic death. Is that true? Are there other rabbis who believe this (not that it really matters, just curious)?

Cardiac death is certainly death, the debate is about brain death. I argue that even if brain death is not defined as death, it is still mandatory to donate organs on which the soul depends between brain death and cardiac death. I am not aware of similar opinions. See my article about this here:
