Points about the sciences of freedom
Hello Rabbi
I would be happy to clarify a few points from the book The Science of Freedom:
1- Does every materialist position necessarily advocate strong emergentism, or is only materialism that attempts to incorporate free will within it based on emergentism?
2- Did Libet's experiments actually show cases in which there was an rp, and the person vetoed and decided not to press the button, or is this just a hypothesis? Because if the findings did show that a person did not raise his hand despite the rp, then the experiment supposedly proves free will and there is no basis for materialism, am I wrong?
3- I would be happy to clarify the claim of unity of consciousness, that is, why the very fact that we do not experience polyphony is an indication of the soul, since the materialist would explain that the left hemisphere unites all of our experiences (just as you showed in the book), and in addition constitutes the source of the experience itself, so on the face of it it seems that the libertarian would not necessarily gain (nor would he necessarily lose) from the argument of unity of consciousness.
4- In the book God Plays Dice, do you touch on the question of the relationship between evolution and consciousness in a more detailed and profound way?
Thank you very much.
