Questions about the series of lessons on Torah study

שו"תQuestions about the series of lessons on Torah study
שאל לפני 9 שנים

Hello Rabbi, I listened to the series of lessons on Torah study and I have a few questions.
In yeshivahs that only teach Gemara Iyun, isn't there a certain omission in the world of Halacha learning? A situation has been created in which people leave the yeshivah without a basic knowledge of Halacha! After all, most people won't stay fifteen years to study, that's not possible, so they'll leave with a halachic toolbox! It just sounds like the rabbi agrees with the yeshivah world's way of learning.
B. Isn't Rabbi Amiel's "The Qualities for Researching Halacha" a kind of encyclopedia of beliefs that the Rabbi searched for in the lesson?
PS: In my opinion, in the world of Zionist yeshivahs, the recognition that long years of study are needed to reach a good level of scholarship is not sufficiently ingrained. It is difficult to find someone who studies for 10-15 years.

A. In my opinion, there is no mistake. The goal of the yeshiva is not to impart knowledge but skill. Knowledge is a bonus. Studying the details of halakha (like the Mab's or Kitsush'a) is not a matter of skill but of knowledge. You can also do this on your own. The accepted policy in yeshivas is that their goal is to raise children. The rest is just a byproduct. Perhaps this is a mistake, and perhaps there should also be yeshivas that are designed to raise children in homes and separate them from each other. The policy today is different, and perhaps there is a problem with that. on. This is not an encyclopedia, but rather the writing of a few entries from it. The problem with creating an encyclopedia is not writing the entries, but organizing and sorting all the entries. As I explained there, what is missing is the key to sorting. Rabbi Amiel was not much help with this. I think this recognition is rooted there, but people don't strive to become scholars (at least it's not worth the difficult prices it demands of them. See column 34 on the website) and therefore don't stay there.
