The eternity of the Torah

שו"תThe eternity of the Torah
שאל לפני 3 שנים

1. What is the proof that the words of the Torah are for all generations, forever?
2. Assuming the Torah is eternal, why are there things in it that are not relevant to us? Like slaves and leprosy, and so on?
3. Assuming that the Torah is eternal, why do so many seemingly unimportant things appear in it, such as the details of journeys, the tedious repetition of the gifts of the presidents, and so on?

  1. This is a tradition in our hands.
  2. Everything is relevant to us. Not always applicable (even a rebellious and mischievous son is not applicable). But even if not – you are not right. See the words of the Maimonides in the commandments of the Kafza.
  3. I have no idea. As far as I'm concerned, the entire non-halakhic part of the Torah is tedious repetition because you don't learn anything from it.
