Hello Rabbi, a question regarding tithes. It is written in the Gemara in Tractate Ta'anit, page 9, page 1, "Ten so that you may become rich." And the Gemara continues and cites the verse in 3 Kings: "Bring all the tithes…" and I am confused about this.

Does it work or is it just fairy tales?

I have no idea. I haven't checked, but I have some suspicions. In fact, it's almost impossible to check even if you wanted to.
