Unofficial kosher

שו"תUnofficial kosher
שאל לפני 9 שנים

Hello Rabbi.
The court today allowed businesses to advertise that they maintain kashrut procedures, even if they do not have official kashrut certification from the Chief Rabbinate.
Asking for your opinion:
Is this morally appropriate, or does it amount to aiding in misleading the public, when there is no oversight of the statement, and no one stands behind it?
Will this cause failures for those who keep kosher, who until now have only eaten official kosher food, and will now fail with non-kosher food?
How should the religious public respond to the ruling, from a religious and moral perspective?

Hello. I haven't heard of it, but this is the stew that the Chief Rabbinate has cooked up. It would be appropriate to have a regulator to check the reliability of kashrut, but because the Rabbinate operates the way it does, there is no relevant regulator and this is the result. The question of whether this is morally appropriate is not clear to me. Did the High Court do something appropriate? The High Court is not interested in whether people eat kosher, but rather in ensuring that rights and laws are preserved. The religious public should be very happy about this ruling and bless that we have revived and dismissed the Chief Rabbinate.
