With virtue
Hello,
I listened to your lessons on the virtue of the people of Israel.
You clarified that you do not find the diversity of the Jewish people, or their “otherness,” to be one that stands out, that is of a different kind, from the diversity of any other people in relation to other nations.
At the same time, I would ask, when this difference spreads across several areas, isn't this another type of difference?
– Consistent and “stubborn” survival of a minority over thousands of years (while powerful empires were wiped from the world)
– A clear prominence of the percentage of Jewish Nobel Prize recipients in various fields, relative to non-Jews
– The Jewish people are endowed more by virtue of their brains than by virtue of their toil and manual labor. As far as I can understand, we are definitely considered a startup nation and have been perceived as such since the beginning of the exile.
–It seems that for thousands of years, both in exile and here in the land, our very existence has been like a thorn in the side of the world, and it is not always clear why. There will always be a reason…
There seems to be something here beyond biography or mere evolutionary adaptations…
I believe that the title of "with a special quality, a light to the nations" is first and foremost a role. ("And you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation"). All humans were created in the image of God, but each has his own role and uniqueness.
At the same time, the role we received at Mount Sinai is binding (so we were commanded), and therefore it seems that we were equipped with genetic “cargo” (“software” in your opinion), a type of other potential that will enable the fulfillment of the role.
And who knows, perhaps failure in the role (potential that was not realized) gives rise to subconscious disappointment and discriminatory and anti-Semitic attitude on the part of the peoples of the world…
Regards
