How far do commandments reach | Love and
Shalom Aleichem Rabbi, I wanted to ask… They say to invest in the mitzvot sometimes to the point where it is easy to reach mental disorders. For example, and especially in mitzvot such as "Love your neighbor as yourself," a mitzvah that sanctifies giving to others, but to what level? When does love become an unhealthy way of pleasing the other, which nullifies the one who fulfills the mitzvah and turns him into a bitter person on the one hand or nullified and low on the other. I see a lot of patients, people and I personally feel depressed about the fact that due to investing in this mitzvah, they reach a state where their desires and what does them good is nullified on a regular basis… which, as mentioned, leads to difficult feelings on a daily basis and even depression.
thanks
Happy Holidays
